In this day and age with social media, multimedia, new media, etc., it is hard to know what is real or what you can trust. It is hard to know who is real and genuine and almost impossible to get to the truth, the whole, truth and nothing but the truth.
Trust seems impossible to achieve.
We have all had our trust broken at some point. It could have been a past or present relationship or friendship. Maybe it was your parents or close kin. It could have been a business partner or a respected leader. At some point in our lives, promises were broken, confidences breached, beliefs betrayed.
We learned to not trust. We learned to not trust people.
However, “… whoever trusts in the Lord is safe.” Prov 29:25
The truth is, the way you chose to receive and give love after a breach of trust can be changed by the experience. Overcoming those fears and healing those wounds can take a significant amount of time. For some, the hurt and pain of breached trust never leaves them. The ability to trust again can only be found in our Heavenly Father. He is consistent and od and his words do not change or shift. He is the same yesterday, today and forever.
Proverbs 3:5-6 begs of us to “trust in the Lord with all of your heart and lean not to your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your path straight.”
The inability to trust can leave us hurting, confused and alone. The ability to trust and heal can only be found in Christ.
2 Timothy 2: 13 says “if we are faithless, he remains faithful, for he cannot disown himself.” In our human frailty, we can find ourselves doubting God and comparing his love for us to the human love we have experienced. We take our distrust of people and apply that lack of trust to Yahweh. However, Yahweh is so committed to be true and faithful that no matter how His children doubt Him, He remains trustworthy and faithful. What He says He will do, he does. What He says will happen, happens. It is impossible for Him to lie or act in an unfaithful way. He is who He is and can not be different. It is not His character.
When you find yourself afraid to love and trust, run to the loving arms of your Heavenly Father who wants to show you how faithful He is and love you until you are able to love again. He waits to cover you in His love and remove your fears. His perfect love casts out fear. Find rest and peace in Him for He loves you and will teach you to love. He will strengthen you protect you.
Listen to His whisper…
“Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand,” Isaiah 41:10.
