God’s law of tithing – giving one tenth of your income/harvest back to the kingdom of God (Yahweh).
Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test! Malachi 3:10 (NLT)
——
Although not the only law attached to a promise, the Law of Tithing may be the only law where God actually dares us to do it in order to reap the law’s benefits.
“I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test!
Tithing is a demonstration of our obedience to our Heavenly Father and a declaration of our faith that He will provide for our needs.
Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple.
In the early days of Israel, tithes supported the priests – those who cared for the Ark of the Covenant. In modern day, tithes often support the upkeep and ministry of places of worship. As children of Yahweh, we are called to be the light of this world. We are called to minister and serve in the body of Christ and our tithes must be used to further God’s kingdom and ministry.
Bring this tithe to the designated place of worship—the place the Lord your God chooses for his name to be honored—and eat it there in his presence. This applies to your tithes of grain, new wine, olive oil, and the firstborn males of your flocks and herds. Doing this will teach you always to fear the Lord your God. Deut 14:23 (NLT) (bold YW)
In ancient Israel, Yahweh was found in the holy tabernacle. He physically dwelled with Israel in a spiritual form. Today, because of the sacrifice of Christ, our Heavenly Father is accessible at all times regardless of location. However, where God is honored is key.
How can we confirm that God is honored by our tithes? We confirm that God is honored by the results of our tithes. The tithe should go where God is honored, served, and the tithe is used to implement and support God centered activities based upon His word.
Yahweh Whispers…
Love God
“The most important [commandment],” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’” Mark 12:29-30 NIV
Are the tithes being used to demonstrate a love of God? Is the love of God the primary driver of how the tithes are used? Are they used to strengthen the love of God in people?
Yahweh Whispers…
Love Others
The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ Mark 12:31 NIV
Are the tithes used to support, help, include, and love others? Are they used to promote peace? Is the goal to love? Are they used to share the LOVE of God? Do they promote unity?
Yahweh Whispers…
There is no commandment greater than these [commandments].Mark 12:31 NIV
These two commandments are the foundation of our lives for Yahweh. Without them, we can not truly carry out our mission.
The Mission
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matt 28:19-20 NIV
As children of Yahweh, we are called to this mission (purpose). We can not achieve this mission if we don’t love as God calls us to love. We can not love others without truly loving and understanding our Heavenly Father. These things are the fruits of our labor and the demonstration of our commitment to our Heavenly Father.
Successful management of the tithe must result in these fruits. If the tithe you contribute is resulting in these fruits, then God is honored and served.
Our prayer for you:
Heavenly Father, Thank you for the reader of this Whisper. We ask that You guide them and give them strength to be obedient to your word and tithe. Guide them in making financial decisions, particularly if they are facing financial hardships. Show them that, through You, their faith has the ability to multiply resources in amazing ways. Silence the enemy as it tells them that they cannot afford to tithe. Show them instead, that they can.
Also Heavenly Father, show them where the tithe should go. Lead them to a place where you are honored and served, a place that is truly obeying your greatest commandments and doing your work.
In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
